Steel Cable.

Our recommended cable for most applications is 1x19 construction, type 316 stainless steel cable.

Other constructions of cable can be used, such as 7x7 or 7x19, but they are rarely recommended.

Cable Construction Type 316 Stainless Steel is used, unless otherwise specified. Type 316 has better corrosion resistance to most chemicals, salts and acids and is more resistant to marine atmosphere because of an addition of 2.0 to 3.0% molybdenum. This addition improves the corrosion resistance of austenitic steels and imparts hot strength characteristics. Another valuable property of Type 316 is high creep strength at elevated temperatures. Fabrication characteristics of Type 316 are similar to Type 302 or 304Type 316 is a higher grade of steel that is rust resistant

Cable Construction
1 x 19
Cable
Very rigid. Lowest stretching under load. 1 x 19 is the preferred construction for cable railings, under most circumstances.
7 x 7
Cable
Less rigid than 1x19.
7 x 19
7 x 19 cable
Less rigid than 7x7.
*1/8" diameter cable can be vulnerable to failure under shock loads caused by abuse, such as a heavy person applying an out of plane load on a properly tensioned cable. 3/16" and larger cable diameters have significantly higher load ratings than 1/8" and are, therefore, not as susceptible to failure as 1/8".

R6-(12,22,32,42,52,62) Invisiware Receiver.

This is the R6-(12,22,32,42,52,62) invisiware receiver series part. The length of the part is determined on the diameter of your post. Primarily used in metal fabricated post but can be used in a wood application.

ADJUST-A-BODY® WITH HANGER BOLT TENSIONER - AJB-6. This is primarily used in wood applications.

PL-4 (1/8th in) and PL-6 (3/16th in). Push-Lock™ fittings are designed for use with 1x19 L.H. lay strand only. They can be used with any tensioning device on the other end… but when used with our swageless tensioners, both ends can be put on the cable by hand without any swaging or special tools.

The PL-4 and PL-6 Push-Lock™ fittings (with rounded heads) are used on level runs. They rest in a hole in the end post. When used with an end post 1-1/2” or more in thickness, the Push-Lock™ fitting with a rounded head is hidden inside the end post, with only the head exposed on the outside of the post. Pipe ends are counterbored, so the full perimeter of the head will rest on a flat surface in the pipe. A plastic washer is included and acts as a scratch resistant barrier between the Push-Lock™ fitting and a metal post. The head rests on the outside wall of a flat-sided metal post or on a stainless steel washer on a wooden post. For wood applications, also order 7-16SAE washer.

PL-TE4 and PL-TE6 Push-Lock™ fittings with threaded eye ends are for use on stairs. They attach to a wood end post with a Lag Eye. See the drawing to determine how to interface this fitting with a metal end post or use our Fixed Tab or Threaded Tab. Mount with an
